Niji no Matsubara / Sakura / Tenugui

Rainbow lashes / Cherry blossoms / Tenugui

Yumi Terauchi, a designer who loves Karatsu, designed this hand-printed tenugui towel in light madder color as "Inspired by TOKIWAGI, something that reflects the scenery of Karatsu." It is a color selection that reminds me of the beautiful colors of the sunset over the mountains of Karatsu.

The pattern is based on Karatsu's "Niji no Matsubara", one of Japan's three major pine groves. The TOKIWAGI mark is likened to the moon, and a plover is drawn crossing the Matsubara. In order to express my feelings for Karatsu, I drew the original picture using pine cones.

Hand printing is a manufacturing method in which a mold is made for each color and colored paste is imprinted on the fabric with a spatula called a squeegee. The fine-textured fabric is selected as the material, and each one is finished by hand. Please use it as a cloth, sweat wipe, or handkerchief. It also makes a great souvenir or gift.
